Can anyone help me to understand the timing on this and under stand the smart spark. I will enter a tune and the engine will start right up. Once I shut it off it's like it looses the tune and starts back firing. I'm aggravated and ready to throw it all away. Thanks for any help.

There are very knowledgeable people on this board, but no one has responded. We might be needing more details/information:

What Gen PCM?

When you enter the tune it starts up, but starts back firing when you turn it on again.
Either you're using some form of real time tuning and not applying changes, or... I don't know.

You're tuning for spark because you have serious backfire issues if you don't?

What modifications have you made? Has it always done this? New project?
