The Terminator X is a basic system in some respects but I wouldn't call it shitty, The Holley systems works great without using a speed input. The ECU doesn't care how fast you're going. It still uses TPS MAP RPM O2 Sensor and so on to control all the functions, You can control boost without speed input depending on your setup using boost by gear or boost over time.
"description: selects the method shift occurrence will be recognized. if using a holley efi controlled electronic transmission, select “tcu input” and the gear change is automatically recognized. “rpm drop” uses a fall in rpm after a shift to determine a shift. “individual input” uses a +12v or ground input to determine a shift"

The Terminator definitely seems like great value for money, so saying shitty is probably a little OTT. And you can do lots of things ignoring important information...doesnt mean it's a good or sensible way to do it though when it's so easy to do it right

For the record, since I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread yet, the Terminator X and X Max ECUs do not support variable reluctance (sine wave) speed sensors on their four general-purpose inputs (I don't know whether they support such sensors on the transmission connector, but only the automatic transmission guys are going to be using that anyway). You need to use a Hall effect type speed sensor for that to work, or run a variable-reluctance sensor through some kind of circuit that converts it to look like a Hall effect sensor. You may also find that the speed sensor in the transmission is surprisingly "noisy" and will tend to falsely report vehicle speed when you are stopped and in neutral.

On my own setup, I am using an ABS wheel speed sensor running through a $16 SIRHC Labs converter board. I have found that this signal tends to be much cleaner than attempting to convert the transmission VSS to Hall effect (again, noise in neutral). So, if you want to use a speed sensor input to choose when to engage and disengage the reverse lockout, you may want to consider something like that.

On the output side, Terminator X/Max ECUs can only ground their outputs, not provide power to them. I don't know how much power the T56 reverse lockout coil draws, but you might want to use the ECU to ground a relay rather than trying to ground the reverse lockout coil directly through an ECU output.

As has been mentioned, Holley's own tech support is hit-or-miss at best. You really either need to post in the Holley EFI forums, or buy your rig from a dealer who will support you after the sale.

No big deal converting from VR to a square wave. There are various adapters that can do it if you cant build something

There is no reason the stock VSS should be noisy.

And the solenoid draws very little current. I've had mine on a low current output for several years with no issue so I'd say 1A or less. Although never actually measured it.

There is little info on how to wire this up online. I know you will have to use the I/O's to run it. Does anyone here have a setup like this and can point me in the right direction on how to achieve this? The goal is turbo in the future. Thanks for any help!!
Go to the Holley forums, this has been discussed. Danny on the forums seems to know just about everything these units can and can't do. https://forums.holley.com/showthread...0291#post30291

Any updates on this? I'm wiring up my Terminator X now and am ready to start wiring up my t56. I plan on using one of my inputs for VSS and one output for the revers lockout. I checked out that link, but I don't believe that applies to me since they are describing the HP EFI, not X.

It should be fairly close. You still need to setup things the same basic way in the software, along with the wiring. Terminator X systems are just dumbed down versions of their bigger brothers. I'd be running one of these systems too but they can't run low impedence injectors
