Hello guys,
I´m new in the forum, and also on this ECU/ECM stuff, specially with trucks.
I will have to do some tuning in a 2001 Silverado with a 5.7L vortec engine and i was hoping to get some help here...
The ECM has the number "12201281" and HDW NO. 09386530.
I think its a LS1 type.

I wanted to know if using PcmHammer and ScanTool SX (Original w/latest FW from webpage) i will be able to read/write in this ECM...
In this case, the idea is to change the Camshaft with some "racing" ones and we need to tune the ECM.
What is the beast and easiest soft i can use to tune this ECM?
Normally i have a friend that makes me the tuning mod for the ECU/ECM, but since this is a truck i don't know if it will be the same or not, and i´m pretty sure that there are here some Gurus on this type of ECMs and Engines...

So, if anyone can help me out with some tips i would really appreciate...

If you have a 2001 Silverado it did not come with a 5.7L Vortec. Either a 4.8 or 5.3. Be sure of what you have.

The truck is not mine. Its a guy that asked me 8f i could help him with the repro on his truck.
I asuass that if that engine didn't came with that truck model he probably made a swap...
Anyway i just spoke with him and this will be a project for February / March, so i have some time to do some learning...

There should be other numbers on the ECM. Does it perhaps have an "896" or a "411" in the last three digits of a different number? A picture of the front of this engine would help. I'm also thinking 4.8 or 5.3 liters here.
