Stand alone with cruise control

Default Stand alone with cruise control

I have a gen 4 truck engine that I'm swapping into my 1970. It will be mated up to T56 Magnum. I'm trying to decide what route to go with the stand alone system. Here's what I've been looking at.

Gen 4 ECU: I have the original harness, ECU, TCM, and throttle pedal out of the matching truck. I've been reading that these ECUs don't like to work all that well with speed inputs and manual transmissions. Leading me to believe that cruise control is a no go, and also likely needing to get a BCU as well. May have issues getting it to work with Dakota Digital gauges.

Terminator X Max: much more simple, plug and play but no cruise control option as far as I'm aware. Should work fairly easily with Dakota Digital gauges with the Holley converter from Dakota Digital.

Is there any good way to run this engine, with the manual transmission, and retain a cruise control function? Is there a stand alone type option for cruise control function that will work with the Gen 4 stuff? Appreciate any input on this.

I can only say that if you look at the cruise control on like a 1994 s10, it is a complete stand alone setup. It took me some digging to find that out, (long story) but yeah in the end it is a stand alone unit.

They make a stand alone cruise for chevy sparks and cruze. They were sold without cruise on the base model. The add on cruise hooks between the pedal and harness and plugs onto the obd2 connector. It just modifys the signal from the pedal to make the dbw throttlebody think you are stepping on the gas. It uses the obd2 for the speed signal. Not sure it will work with your pedal but it might be worth a call to the manufacturer.

Use the factory ECU for cruise and the terminator to control the engine.

I'd have to make two different harnesses work together in order to do that, I wouldn't shell out the cash for a Terminator just to hack up the harness. I also don't know if the ECUs will try to fight each other to control the engine.
