Replacement Ecm VIN question
I did upgrade to unlimited model/year for that specific vehicle and it took 3 credits because I already done 2 1998 camaros before. Anyway all seems fine and was able to save/flash the replacement ECM without any issues...
Now my question is as I have been searching for a few hours but couldn't find the answer to. How to change the VIN number on the new ECM as it has another number from a different car? The VCM editor has no option to do so and the VCM scanner shows the option to change ViN but when I click on it, it says I have no license to do so? Be it I just upgraded to unlimited 1998 camaro and I have licensed the new ECM with 3 (upgrade credits).
Using 4.10.7 software on computer
OS number on both ecm are the same
Year is the same on both
Any help would be appreciated
Any idea if EFI Live is capable of doing so? Or any other tools for that matter. I just need to match the VIN on the replacement ECM to the car as it's the same year same OS etc
Too bad I couldn't find a replacement ecm for 1998 cars as it's so hard to find here and they stopped producing new or refurbished units for some time and this used unit was my last hope and so glad it worked and wasn't broken or anything. I did a test drive for an hour and all went well with re-flashing it with my old calibration from the bad ECM.
HPT use to be able in older versions.
A tech 2 will not do it with out completely reprograming the ECU with a subscription or a burn copy of the old TIS software.
Thanks man. I will be looking into EFI live glad to know before pulling the trigger on the new HPT MPVI 2 as an addition to my MPVI (1).

Edit: I stand corrected after looking at the PCM type at the top of this thread. PCM Hammer won't work with a standard 1998 PCM. Only the 1999 and up to about 2007 P01 and P59 PCM devices.
