Default Changing cam sensor Location

Been looking at on it. They recommend moving the cam sensor from the rear to the front when using their system. I have a Summit turbo cam kit and a Summit timing chain kit. What else am I going to need besides a Timing cover and a sensor? I need to dig my chain out and see if it's even right to use with a sensor. Sucks because I bought a new GM sensor because mine was broke when I bought the engine.

You will need an adapter harness that runs from the stock cam sensor location that runs to the front of the engine.

You will also have to have the correct cam gear for the sensor. I believe it's going to be a 1x(but I would verify first)

I'm going to get my timing set out and call Summit, they have a timing cover for around $40 and I knew about the harness, I think they're only $19. I know the cam is a 3 bolt so hopefully that's all I need. Someone said the front mount has better resolution, don't know if that's right or not.

The more I research, the more I think the Smart Spark wouldn't be the best move. If it had boost control maybe but this is a budget build, just something to make a few passes with, do a little street driving and I'm trying to hold cost down but by the time I get everything I need, I could almost buy the Terminator X. It sounded really good when a member on here messaged me about it but the cost just keeps going up.

I've been basically living here on LS1Tech for the last three months doing research for my build, and I've never seen a mention of smart spark. Terminator is a proven system for many different type of setups with tremendous support and knowledge here. Not to mention the specific Holley Forums that have some super geniuses that help answer questions.

This article is strictly about moving the cam sensor on Gen I or 2 engines, NOT LS engines.

Huh? that entire article is LS related all day long. it helps explain what is needed to go from top rear block camshaft sensor to front timing cover camshaft sensor.

I noticed that too, no biggie, I think they meant "Gen I of LS style" , aka Gen III. Kinda confusing.
