They are not slightly different. They are very different.

Tes you will need a tune. MAF works of frequencies and if not dialed in, it will run like crap or go into Limp mode (speed density)

If it was designed as a stock replacement, it should work right out of the box. When you said truck MAF, I was thinking of the Gen III truck MAF from the GMT800 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 or 8.1L truck engines.

The unit you linked to is not a "LS truck" MAF though. It was designed to be a replacement for the LT1/L31/early LS1 MAFs. The truck mafs are like 85mm and have an entirely different flow curve.

It's an upgrade if you run a larger intake and/or need more resolution due to maxing out the stock 78mm frequency range. Larger MAF will require rescaling the air flow curve in the tune.

This is the truck MAF. 85mm. Also used on C5 Corvette.
The missing number there is a 1.

The stock aluminum is somewhere between 75 and 78mm. It has a lot of restriction from the thick ramps running down the middle.

The delphi af10056 is the new oem plastic replacement and it should run directly in place of the old one. It apparently should not need a tune. And that makes sense because it would be terrible if a stock replacement did. It wouldn't sell.

This new one has an 85mm ID (91mm OD) and is less restrictive by the looks of it. Same ID as the truck maf, which is the same maf as the c5, c6 ls2 and ls2 gto. The c5 z06 uses a descreened truck maf.
