Default Ugh mpv1 with windows 11

I need to get a new laptop for tuning. I bought one cheap that was supposed to have windows 10, but actually had windows 11. Well my interface couldn’t be found and got an error when trying. So I did a clean install of windows 10, but struggled to get drivers to work for many things and hptuners would recognize my interface but my licenses didn’t show up. Also when moving my tune over with a flash drive it would go from 3 bar to one bar and everything was screwy with it.

I gave up and put 11 back on it and gave that laptop to my wife.

Recommend me a cheap hp or similar laptop that you can confirm is windows 10 and hptuners compatible with an mpv1.

Also advise on the procedure to get setup with hptuners on the new laptop as well as move my tunes and scanner layouts over without them getting messed up

Thank you.

Often computer repair shops sell used computers and you should be able get a nice clean Win10 laptop there. By clean I mean a clean file system.

Ok, I was finally able to get it to connect to my mpv1 after removing and reinstalling hptuners and the drivers. When I saved my old tunes on a flash drive and move them over to the new laptop they are messed up though. For example my 3 bar tune is now one bar and everything is completely different although it has the same name, ecu info, vin number, etc. What do I need to do to get my old tunes and layout on the new laptop?

I got it working finally. I had to uninstall and reinstall everything a few times, but I do have it working now. Weird. Hptuners even told me it wasn't compatible with windows 11 when I asked what my problem could be on a ticket.

Couldn't just move my layout over with a flash drive so I setup the vcm scanner from scratch, but did it get everything working with it as well.

I have the same problem since my main laptop is pretty old and very slow. My wife bought me a new laptop and I'm dealing with this same issue. But I am opting to upgrade to the MPVI3. The data logging is super fast and it's a night and day difference. I am just hoping I don't have to start using their 5.0 software. It's BS that you have to take a class from them and the **** EPA to turn off certain DTCs.

I’d like to know if MPVI3 stand-alone data logging works with our older pcm’s?

If it does, I’d like to upgrade. I don’t mind taking the class if need be. My MPVI1 is getting glitchy. Bought it in 2011

I don't see why it wouldn't. Datalogging is datalogging. But I hope so as well. I'm using a 0411 in the Impala swap.
Unfortunately, this will be the only car I'll need it for in my driveway. Other cars are getting Fuel-tech.

At one point a couple years ago, I had to send my MPV1 back for repair. I can't remember what they said was wrong with it, but it was a fairly quick turnaround. I was still on my original laptop that I started tuning with. It was getting super slow and doing so weird things, so I wanted to get a new one before it died on me.

It's just weird the first time I installed hptuners and the drivers it wouldn't connect, and I'd get an error message. I tried re-installing everything and still nothing. I started a ticket with hptuners and they literally said it's not compatible with windows 11.

I wiped everything and reinstalled again, and it connected. Put my same key in and resync now it's working great.

Finding a compatible laptop for tuning can be tricky, especially with Windows versions. While I can't recommend a specific model, going for a reputable brand like HP is a good bet. Make sure to verify that it comes with Windows 10 and is compatible with your tuning software. As for HPTuners setup, ensure you have the latest drivers and software updates. If you ever decide to upgrade, having a windows 11 pro key handy could simplify the process.

Before you download 5.0, Change the name of your current file to show the version, such as HPTuners4.8.7. I even made a Drive D: to keep it on. Now I have both.
I was unable to keep Scanner 4.8.7 for some reason. I think I forgot to rename it, but who cares, it was Editor that I wanted to keep.
