Default PCM versions/

I currently have the 02 FBODY PCM -- P01 0411

I am wanting to go to 3 bar OS as I am upping boost to make of 20ish. My 3 bar map I can put the liner and offset in HP tuners however I can not go to 3 bar OS it appears.

My question is this:

What PCMs will be plug and play into the fbody platform (2002) and can be used. I am well aware of HP Tuners costs/licences and can change VIN on new PCM of course.

I think . . . think . . . that a later year P59 will be the closest PCM that might possibly work. But its not a plug and play kind of deal. There will be some slight re-pinning of wires required and the grounds to a P59 are different. It also has a blue and a green connector that has different notches - swaps are possible here.

The benefit of the P59 is that its memory capacity is twice the size of your P01 0411 - 512k memory vs 1024k in the P59.

Maybe somebody else will chime in. Go look at LT1swap.com to see the detailed differences between the P01 and the P59.

I just looked at two 02 Camaro tune files, both stick and auto.
Both show 3 bar available.

Sounds to me like your 0411 wasn't originally in a Camaro?

What does it say under "Edit/Calibration Details"?

From what I can tell the only 3 bar option I have is Speed Density.
I still have/run a MAF and would like to retain that most likely as my piping for blower has the card style in it already.

100% original 2002 Pontiac Trans Am PCM as I am original owner.

The MAF doesn’t know boost, only airflow. Therefore you don’t need a custom OS. Or a 3 BAR map sensor.

The ECU has a hard limit for MAF airflow. So depending on the inlet tubing size, you may exceed that, and will need to scale the MAF sensor. There is a sticky on that by ddnspider I believe.

Most folks just do a 3 bar SD tune for the high hp boosted stuff.

The 2 and 3 bar SD custom operating systems do NOT break your MAF. You still have the option of running a MAF with either of those. As an example, my former work truck that my Dad now owns has a Whipple running low boost into a 4.8L. I tuned it with a 2bar sd os, but still tuned the MAF as well, because it was nowhere near maxed out. On my current GTO that easily maxed out the MAF with a turbo, I ran SD only until recently. Right now I am between turbo kits on it, and am still running the 2bar os, but with the MAF back on it for now. When I returbo it, I may take advantage of the card style MAFs available now and scale a few things to use one.
