Default 98 wiring harness and pcm upgrade to 99+?

I have a 98 SS that I've owned for 23 years now. Would it be easier to just swap the 98 harness to one from a 99-02 and a 0411 and still have all gauges function?
Ive had countless issues with tuning or finding someone to even tune a 98. Burning up 4L60E's.
Its a mild build. Sbe 01 5.7, 243 heads milled .030, Vengeance VRX4 cam, LS6 Intake, SE headers, or and SLP 2OTL, 3800 Stall from Neal Chance and 3.73 gears in the stock 10 bolt. 418 hp through the converter.
currently tuned SD after the tuner had jssues getting jt dialed in with the maf.

Switching to a 99 has no bearing on whether or not you burn up a 4l60e. I've tuned plenty of 98s, currently 1 at 700whp and there's no magic to it. Your setup doesn't dictate moving to a 99 or later. Hell if you have EFI Live then tuning 98s are free.

I was told by someone at RPM that speed density tuning on a 98 is almost certain death to the 4L60E.
i was told that 99+is just better all around. Faster processor, more parameters etc.

You don't need speed density on an NA 98 setup. I've done multiple 700whp 98 setups using an LS7 MAF. People kill 4l60es by removing all torque management and revving them too high in stock form. Someone has you all backwards. You don't need a faster processor or more parameters when it doesn't have a meaningful impact on your particular setup. Custom operating systems and flex fuel setups are when having a 411 PCM is nice, but even then it's not required.

My new engine is going in right now at a shop. Its going to run around N/A for a little while on my original 1998 PCM, which is plenty of PCM as "ddnspider" mentioned. Nothing crazy, maybe it'll put down 425 RWHP. But I bought a remanned 0411 PCM, new plug connectors and I'll be doing the re-pin myself at some point because my Huron Speed T6 A/C kit will be going in very soon. The turbo set up really requires a PCM upgrade from the 1998 PCM if I want a spot on tune.

+1 on this!!
A stock 4L60E will need torque management. JY 4l60E and cheap (under $1500) rebuilds are not going to last long.
If you want a well build performance 4L60E, check out sponsor Franks Transmissions in the Automatic Transmission section, where I am most active.
