Cam sencor bad - now what?

Cam sencor bad - now what? My mechanic tells me my cam sensor is bad!
I did not know there was a cam sensor in Gen 3 engines. Where is this? I did not see any sensor when I changed the cam 1.5 years ago. I thought the only internal sensors were; 1. knock sensors under the valley cover and , 2. reluctor wheel sensor?
Any thoughts?

I hope it fixes the tech problem too! These sensors going bad casue major headaches - can;t GM do a better job
