Default WideBand Sensor Placement

What would be the optimum place to install the wideband sensor? Should it just be installed into an existing stock O2 location and unhook the stock sensor while in use. Being uneducated in the ways of the wideband I would think that it would be better to put it right after the Y connects and goes into a single, that way you could get AFR from both left and right banks. But there again I don't know jack about wideband (Yet).

Any opinions on this one guys?

I would install another bung and not remove the stock sensors. Place the WBO2 near the stock sensors and you will be fine. I don't know what you are using for a PCM (stock or aftermarket) but trying to read both banks is not an issue with a stock PCM so sticking it on one side will be OK.

Cool thanks for the info. I was going to take my car to the muffler shop anyway to get them to redo part of my exhaust because the cat is hitting the driveshaft. So I just get them to weld in a bung at the same time.

The widebands need a little different environment than
the narrowbands. Narrowbands just want hot. The WBO2
needs to be someplace where it will -never- be put over
its thermal setpoint, which the control electronics try
to maintain. If it goes out of thermal control then the
output is out of cal. So you wouldn't want, say, to go and
put the bung upstream of the stockers on an iron-logs car.

Downstream of cats is going to make for some smoothing
at best, probably some inaccuracy.

I put mine in the I-pipe back by the passenger's door trailing
edge. My cats are neutered My reading is a composite of
both banks, that way. Which might or might not be better
than having it on one side of the Y.

If you just put it on one side, behind the stock narrowband O2s, is it best to put it on the driver or passenger side? Does one side run slightly leaner than the other?

can't compensate for bank to bank adjustments anyway. Just pick a side or at the Y merge to I if you feel. If you go that far back in the exhaust though, it's good to have the LM-1 cuz it stays heated for low flow/idle conditions.

Unless you're boosted, then it's better to put it on the non-pressurized side of the exhaust...

Cool I'll put a bung on one side behind the NB one. This maybe a stipid ? but can you or should you clean the WBO2 sensor every now and then?

I was thinking of a turbo setup rather than a supercharger setup.
But my saying "boosted" was a little ambiguous...
Anywhere downstream of the turbo.

Perhaps another dumb ? .. but if you put the wide band sensor in the O2s location what is the PCM going to do to the A/F on the side with no INPUT coming from the sensor ... will it not skew your A/F making adjustments redundant

No, if you unplug one of the O2's, the PCM disregards that input and uses the other O2 to set fuel mixture for both sides.
