my question is, can i and would it be practical to upgrade to a 99 or newer computer?

Honestly you would be better off using a different tuning solution other than a predator and keep your 98 PCM. Do some searching on the forums for alternatives and suggestions.

The harness' are different than the '99+ so I dont know.
I have no idea if it's a matter of just splicing the wires together, etc but my gut says no.
HPTuners I believe supports '98s, and is only a little more $$...
Someone will chime in, I hope...

Couldn't you just re-pin the PCM plugs? If you had the pinout on the 98 and the 99-02 PCM's you should be able to go pin by pin and change the ones that are different. Sensors are pretty much the same on them as we put a 2000 engine in a 98 car and reused the 98 harness and PCM.

Only thing is, if there's a couple things that arent used on the '98, they'd have to be disabled in the PCM to keep **** from going nutty, or maybe it'd just cause and SES light, dunno...
Theres got to be someone who's done it...
