Default DYNO Run COST in your area???

OK, I just called the closet shop that does dyno tuning. They told me they can't even tune a Gm vehicle yet, which is fine, since I just need a few readouts so I can ship my PCM back to TSP for further tuning. Now they told me that for one pull and the read outs I need I would have to pay out $250 bucks. Does this sound right?

A shop 5 minutes from my house wanted 125 which I thought was very steep. They are also now out of buisness. I think you could find someplace much cheaper then $250. I'm in NJ.

That seems a little high.

I talk to dyno operators across the country daily, and between $50-125 is what i normally hear for 2-3 pulls. Depending on what they charge for the datalogs, but $250 does seem high for just 1 pull with datalog.

I have 14 other dyno's I can be on during my lunch hour, so locally $50-100 is the norm for 2-3 pulls.

Thanks for all the feedback so fast. Yea I knew it was High. There are no shops in the area that I know of. I really would like to run it down to SPEED in ILL. but that is a trip. I'm going to the shop Friday to check it out and maybe see why he costs so much. Also, he told me I get a disc along w/ my pull so i can watch it anytime i want at home on the PC. But $250, Come on.

That is insane , we rent out a Dyno from a local shop in Rochester to do our tuning and they charge $90 for 3 runs . We charge $275 (which includes tuning) and usually ends up taking up about 5-7 runs on it . I would say shop around , you might have just found a new company trying to make their money back quick !

you also need to see what your getting, and make sure theunderstanding is there. Also what kind of wideband are they using, if its a $300 LM1 unit, or a $5000 hereba unit.

Many places might have a dyno, but it is reserved for their use for tuning, and do charge a high fee for others to use it, once they pay for a couple of their employees to strap the vehicle, unstrap it, ect, it can take a while, depending on how thier dyno is setup. Since you did mention the video run of the dyno, there might be more to what your getting vs just a single pull for $250. If they have work lined up tuning, where the dyno does net them hundreds of dollars an hour, then i can understand a walkin run costing more, since the opportunity cost for the company is higher.

He told me he can not tune GM vehicles until he gets the software to do so, which he said was 2 months or so I believe. So no tuning will be done. He said one pull/or 1 hour of work, $250. There is no work to be done other then strap it down, and run it. I will also find out the machine he is running and maybe that will clear up some price issues.
