Default HPTuner or EFILive?

which one is better all over (ignore cost.......I want the best.....)?

I am sick of the LS1Edit guys not being able to get a f*ing update that will work with Windows updates.......for almost a year now I have had to uninstall the Windows updates every time I want to tune (because the LS1Edit is not compatible) and then re-install the updates after I am finished tuning......it is just F*ing BS!!!!!!!!!!!

Trade it in for HP Tuners. With your trade-in, it will be very affordable to upgrade to our product.

Just drop me an e-mail and I'll give you the information.

Thanks!

I've had HP Tuners since it was released... and also had LS1 Edit since it was released for 00 cars... I love HP Tuners... their licensing scheme was great for me (example, in you rsituation you could order up a 01 LS1 and 04 Silverado license I believe, you can tune as many of either (any v8 f-body or v8 silverado w/the 5.3) as you please ... all part of your licensing agreement (very helpful if you have friends w/same year vehicles)

The scanner is very nice, the interface is user friendly , the inputs and outputs of the EIO cable (if you choose to get it) are very nice... (nice to be able to collect up to 4 external sensors and activate up to 2 circuits based on scan parameters)

the trade-in program HPT offers is icing on the cake...

I have them and use them both, they both work. For a DIY guy HPtuner is ok, if you want USB, built in the logger (push a button on the cable, make a pass, unplug a USB cable and d/l it into your laptop in a few seconds), a scanner that you can configure a zillion different ways, very nice compare features, every parameter in the tuner having a description of what it does then flashscan is a good bet - although flashscan doesnt not do 98s at the moment. Hpt does do everything you need though and anyone who doesnt want a sophisticated scanner and is used to tuning with LS1edit will feel right at home with it and thats what a lot of people want I would guess.

Both have very good support on their own forums as well.

If you have LS1edit the HPt tuner trade deal is nice (if they still do it, I'd rather see that policy out in the open instead of having to e-mail, when its out in the open everyone gets the same deal) if you have efilive ver 6 the trade in deal on flashscan is very attractive also. I prefer the EFI licensing for what I do (about 20 cars a year) but if you get a few guys to split the cost of HPT you can have that for next to nothing.

You can download the flashscan tuner/efilive scanner software to play with, without a key you cant see a lot of parameters but you get the general idea. I have no personal interest in either product and to be honest unless anyone has used both they are not being fair to either product if they say one is better then the other.

I have both also. For my car and friends I use EFILive for scanning since the scanner is more intuitive and way more versitile than HPTuners. YOu can build your own histograms and throw away all the excel sheets people have been developing around here. EFILive provides the customer with weekly update and software updates are free for life including any os mods like lean cruise and 2 bar SD tuning. I use my HPT cable for flashing because of the way they license their stuff. I dont tune a multitude of vehicles, if I did then EfiLive wouldve gotten my money as it would get kinda expensive with HPT if you wanted to tune 1 silvy 1 monaro and 1 fbody (199 each). Now if you were tuning 5 silvys, 6 monaros you get the picture then HPT is the way to go.

ATM i exclsively use FLashscan for my scanning needs and flashing for my vehicle. Evryone else get scanned with EFILive and Flashed with Tuners

Actually its kinda funny to see people go to back for the ONLY product they have tried. It sure cant be a fair comparison if you opinion is limited to one package. As i have dealt with all three (Edit, Tuners,Live) I can give the most fairest, unbiased opinion of each one.

I am extremely happy with EFILive and FlashScan. Humpin SS and KP make excellent points above. Unless you have used both you can't make a valid comparison and that would include me.

Just because a number of folks say one package is better than the other doesn't mean that it will be the best for you. I suggest that you do a little investigation into both before you make the financial plunge.

Really nice features of EFILive:
Free Software Updates
Black Box Data Logging
Integrated two channel Analog DC input for WBAFR and other devices like a dynamometer input plus a thermocouple input for simultaneous EGT logging
Extremely capable scanning software probably the best available without question (see comments above)
Extremely capable tuning software

You make the choice that's right for you. But don't just follow my recommendations or anyone elses. Make your own decisions.

All my best,

Steve
