'98 knock sensor update?
Did GM release an updated knock sensor for the 98 LS1s? I want to replace the knock sensors when I intsall a LS6 intake in hopes of exorcising a persistant 4 KR at WOT. For some reason I thought a revised one was made for the 98's.
Thanks
Thanks

Just for clarification part no. 10456222 is the latest version for the 98's? I didn't think the later model year sensors would work becuase of a different connector.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I'm not 100% sure about this, just 99.9%, but the newer sensors screw in the same as the '98s, it's just that the wire connector is different, so you'd need to get a new wire with the new knock sensors.
KS: part #10456603
KS wiring harness: part #15372170

The 99+ update isn't cheap
100 for 2 ks's and the harness.

You could probably get everything a lot cheaper at gmpartsdirect.com.

I have my dealer discount, its as cheap as I can get them. 35 each.
I'm just upgrading them, save the trouble of them going out a week after putting a ls6 manifold on. I guess like the saying says. You've got to pay to play.

I'm confused. Which knock sensor should I buy 10456603 or 10456222 and why? What's the difference between the two?
Thanks!!

Get two #10456603.
People have had problems with '98 sensors causing a continuous 4* of knock retard. I'm not sure what all the differences are between the '98, and '99 and up sensors. I do know that the connectors at the sensor are different, that's why you need to replace the '98 wire with part #15372170.
Hope this is clear.

Are you guys sure the 98 PCM is compatible with the new type sensor ? Same frequencies etc. ?
Anyway, the 98 knock detection is POS. Just run the car with 30% toluene in the gas and quite conservative timing ... still the same knock. I'm going to delete knock retard

I finally received the 12575869 harness from GMPartsdirect after 4 phreakin weeks and started tearing things apart. Pulled out the old knock sensors expecting to find 10456222 and to my displeasure they're stamped 10456603. WTF !!! I didn't think these sensors were put in 98's. Anyways I'm going to button things up and log some runs with the new "new" sensors...
