OK, ok, stupid question....

OK. Stupid question: what exactly is "install it over an existing 1.6 and not in addition to a 1.6"? How do I do that? I downloaded it to the same folder that my 1.6 is in. I did not un-install 1.6.0. Did I do it wrong? If so, what steps do I need to take?
