Default Rev limiter ?

When we tuned my car, the rev limiter was set at 6600 and the dyno charts back up that setting. BUT when on the street, my car hits the limiter when the tach is only at 6200rpms... Not sure if the tach just reads low up top or is just slow to catch up to the engine but...Even when it was stock it would hit the limiter at 6100-6200 indicated so it hasn't really changed much other then what the dyno chart shows. I am wondering if my tach is off or maybe if I lost my tune/limiter adjustment somehow..?

Anyone else notice that the tach reads lower at the redline then the dyno?

My digital window switch reads 900-1000 at idle and the tach is right on with that. Also my window switch is set to come on at 3k and is supposed to activate 200 rpms earlier, IT does just that, the nitrous comes on at 2800 indicated so I think the tach problem is all near redline..

Anyone know? Really don't want to put a shift light in there..

my shift light (when i only had bolt ons) was set at 6000 rpm, right around 5500 by the stock tach was when the light came on. that gauge has so much lag in it, just get a shift light and you will see

I see the same thing. The shift light (set at 6100) goes off when the tach says 5800.

I've looked at the HPTuners logs and it isdeed 6100 according to the PCM when the light goes off.

The stock GM tach lags about 300 rpms.

Ya mine is atleast 300 but probably 400rpms off. Glad to know its not just mine, I was thinking maybe I lost my tune or the dyno was off. Whats funny though is my window switch is set to turn off at 6200 and I can feel the nitrous stop at 6200 indicated so...its weird. I guess I know I need to shift at 6200 on my stock tach which is really 6500-6600.

ON my hayabusa, the factory tach actually reads about 600 rpms FAST. I just bought a raptor light for my bike, maybe I will get one for the car to...

Dunno if you got an M6 or an A4 (should put it in your sig.) but from the looks of your idle rpms, you appear to have an M6. Its very important you get yourself a shift lite if your gonna spin high a lot cause if you go by the stock tach sooner or later your gonna bend something.

Its an M6.. I never wanted to mount any additional crap in the interior but...looks like I need a shift light. Hopefully it will be accurate. Anyone use a raptor light?

here you go, something like this or putting it in a vent would be your best bet and keep it hidden to an extent where it wont look trashy

many people mount shift lights in the little speaker cover looking thing at the bottom of the A-Pillar (I know many w/Harlan Shift lights that do this) ... can barely notice it's there....
