Default AFR in SD

I'm starting to question whether or not I'm running SD correctly. MAF fail is set to 0 so I know I'm in SD. Looking at the AFR readings while in SD show near 14.7 values across the board. Is this the real target?

I'm a bit confused on what happens when you send ECT vs. MAP values to 1.13.... When should you see 13.0 afr readings? At WOT?

I am seeing -10 values across the board but, my AFR is showing values of 14.7 or in that range. I filled up the gas tank a few days ago. Could this be the culprit?

if it is hptuners then on the table in the scanner you open afr resolution pid. high or low. this will be the commanded afr i believe. should be 12.96 or something. your wideband readings in the histo are what the actual afr is.

I'm using HP Tuners. So, is my AFR not falling to, or near the commanded 13.0 AFR? ECT vs. MAP is set to 1.13.

Here's an old file but, an example of what I usually see while in SD for AFR. I am using a wideband obviously.

0 0 0 14.4 0 13 13.3 13

First of all, are you in open loop or not? Second of all, did you already change your command a/f multiplier to 1.13, or are you asking if you should?

It's commanded to 1.13. Sorry, but how would I be able to check and make sure that I am in open loop operation? I thought commanding ECT vs. MAP to 1.13 sent you into Open Loop IF you followed the other SD steps.

Thanks.

if the commanded AFR Pid indicates 14.63:1 or so then you're in closed loop. There's an Open Loop table that lets you set your Open Loop Commanded AFR

Unless you changed the qualifications for entering closed loop, you'll be in closed loop soon after starting the car (in which case it uses the O2 sensors to try to maintain the value that's in the Stoich AFR field)

Then there's another value (Don't have HPT in front of me right now) that lets you set the Closed Loop enable temp... if you set the enable temp outside the bounds of normal ECT then it'll keep you in Open Loop all the time

ECT vs. IAT is set to 250 which should disable closed loop.

There's an Open Loop table that lets you set your Open Loop Commanded AFR
I'm not familar with this table... Is this changable while using the Scanner or Editor?

Thanks.

Under the Control tab in the Scanner, I see a value that can be changed called the AFR control. It is reading @ 14.7....

Is this what you were referring to Horist? Should I set it to 13.0 and get tuning?

Thanks.

If you set your closed loop enable temp to like 280 F like horist said, and set your Open loop F/A table and power enrichment table to 1.13, and you're in speed density, then anywhere your a/f ratio histogram doesn't read 13:1, you know you need to change your ve table. Clear as mud?

Oh yeah, and reset your ltft's when doing this.

engine -> Fuel Control -> Open & Closed Loop (in editor)

Open Loop F/A vs Coolant Temp vs MAP

Your ECT Vs IAT looks right, so you're in open loop... now you need to change this table so that it commands 13.0:1

Then you should be able to change your VE to match your commanded AFR

Ummm...OLFA table to 1.13 - yes.
P/E table to 1.13 too - no. Should be set to 1.00 to disable P/E. When in open loop with 1.13, you can verify with your wideband how far off you are from a 13.0 AFR. Changes made to your VE table to get you as close to that 13.0 as possible will then effectively bring your closed loop values back in line with the commanded 14.7 that is in the other field mentioned above. After you line up the VE table, restore the stock OLFA table and the stock P/E table while still in SD mode. Then tune your P/E table for WOT. Calibrate your maf, re-enable closed loop, and reset trims to finish it all up. Granted, I've yet to do all of this, but it's my plan of attack when my s*** gets here.

You don't need to disable PE if it's the same as the OLFA table. It will pick whichever one calls for more fuel. So it doesn't really matter if you set it to 1.0 or 1.13, as long as it's not more than 1.13.

The 14.7 is what the stock afr is set too (when not in pe mode open loop)its safest chemically correct economic afr just cruising around. I would leave that set where it is. I was under the impression that you only want your afr at 13:1 when in pe mode at wot.

If your seeing -10 across the board I would multiply the whole ve table by .9 reset trims and go from there. I would leave the commanded afr when in closed loop at 14.7 it gives the best economy. If you want pe enabled earlier than change the tps settings, map and rpms for when it kicks in. There is no need to be commanding 13:1 at low throttle levels, I for one like good fuel economy.
