Default What VSS values?

Can somebody tell me how many pulses per revolution does the factory PCM require?

As I need to buy a VSS for a TH350 conversion.

Should be 17 on a 6 speed, 40 on an automatic.

So it doesnt matter if its a 2, 3 or 4 speed auto, as long as you get a 40 rev speed sensor it will work, no OD.

It's not the transmission that matters. If you have a computer from an automatic car it's gonna be programmed for 40, if it's from a 6 speed it'll be programmed for 17. And if you have a tuning program it doesn't matter cause you can change the value. Hope this helps.

My car has been tuned and will be modified again thru HP Tuners, does this mean I can use any Sensor even a 2 pulse per rev sensor?

Yeah, I tried putting 2 in the value in hptuners and it accepted it. Your speedometer might act jumpy at low speeds with that low of resolution though.

Did it stop low speed surging and stalling problems normally assosciated without running a sensor?

Is the speedo accurate when cruising along?

Any other symptoms?

My car does have a manual computer so it reads 17 pulses but all I can get in the way of aftermarket inline speed sensors for a TH350 is a 16 pulse.

Will this be accurate enough without changing the values?

It'll read 80 when going 85. Is your differential gonna be 3.42?

3.50:1 how far out will it be at 60 mile per hour?
How do I calculate it?

If I did my math right it will read 58 when you're going 60 with 3.50's, 16 pulses per rev, 26" tires and a stock m6 pcm. I used:

speedometer reading = actual speed * actual gear ratio/programmed gear ratio * actual pulses per rev/ programmed pulses per rev * programmed tire diameter / actual tire diameter.

GTS346, where did you get the in-line speed sensor from and how exactly does it fit in-line. I`m building an LS1 powered Ford Capri with a TKO 5spd and would much prefer your arrangement rather than a reluctor wheel on the prop-shaft etc.

I havent yet, all the inlines I found were for hall effect setups, we need a magnetic pickup 2 wire, I am working on something, will hopefully figure it out with the next week or so. let me know if your still stuck.
