Default High vs. Low Impedence Injectors...

Can someone explain to me the difference between the two and how they relate to picking which ones you need and are able to run? I know it has something to do with the resistance of the injectors themselves, but what I dont understand is which ones we have stock, why switching to the other type is a problem, and anything else really.

We have high impedance injectors stock.

I am currently running 83 lb Siemens injectors, but my BS3 is set up to run either.

The reason that we care... Is because the biggest high impedance injectors that are available I think 72 lb ones from RC Engineering (someone please correct me).

So folks will run aftermarket pcm solutions or impedance converters so they can run 83/96/160 lb injectors. Like in my case, my 83s are close to being maxed out.

so basically, we have high resistance injectors, with that causing us to only have a low amount of amperage available to open it, and with the low impedance inj., less resistance is present, allowing a peak and hold style injection event, allowing higher flow rates.

And the PCM can only put up with so much current flowing through it, so a standalone is a possible necessity when having to switch to something like a low imp. inj.

Am I correct in these assumtions?

Look on page 45 in your EFI-101 text book.

yeah, did that already, just it doesnt explain the high/low impedance part.

But then again, it does talk about high resistance and low resistance injectors, so now I'm slowly making myslef look like an idiot online.........

Damn, it's all clicking in my head now.

Well, I'll just return to my little hole in the wall and think about what I've done to myself.

Thanks guys.

No reason to 'go to my little hole'. Good question!
