Would a broken valve spring cause a misfire code and therefore trigger the SES light?
I don't have an SES light so I would then conclude that I don't have a misfire and therefore don't have a busted valve spring. Don't know what else to do.

Kevin,
Im actually having a very similiar problem.. My car can and will run like crap below 2500ish rpm. Will get random knock from start up and during part throttle any where from 0-2500ish. The car will fall on its face, pop, sputter etc. I cannot find the problem. Im getting code 133 and 153 for low activity from the 02's even though ive changed them twice. I have no other codes other than those. I cannot pull the valve covers off at home, and I do not have the money to pay someone to do it.

I have a similar issue with my 99 Sierra when I startup and drive it just pops and barley moves for about 1 minute then it frees up. I bought HPTuners and found that my injector pulse does not move so as I open the throttle it does not adjust the fuel so I lean out and it starts poping. This is an image of the HPTunes [URL=http://rinren.com/Injectors.htm[/URL] screen shot. If you have fixed your issue please let me know and I will do the same.

Had the same problem...it seemed like I had a 2 step limiter @ lower rpms....logged onto tech 2 scanner one day and monitored 02 mv readings and found bank 1 Sensor 1 was stuck @ 954 mv when the car would hesitate and when the 02 sensor readings starts switching again it would clear up the hesitation...swapped the 02's w/ my bud w/ a transam b4 I bought a new one....dont have that problem no more....

i just replaced my O2s back in may because of the deficient switching. Didnt clear the codes and didnt run bad until i cleaned my filter, tb. Maybe some oil got on hte sensor and only gets better when i heat them up. i guess i will try to swap them back and will let every one know. TTP scanned it for me and didnt find anything wrong but, then again, it was when the car was hot.
