Nothing that made the PCM think there was a problem but a signal that would fool the PCM into thinking it needed to pull fuel or jack timing. Since you say it doesn't ping in open loop, I'd be curious to see if the car pings at operating temperature, but in open loop. If it does, then we're probably talking about carbon buildup (higher compression) causing the pinging. But if it doesn't ping at all in open loop regardless of temp, then there would almost definitely be a faulty sensor causing it.

I use HPTuners. So, it does give the option to force the car into open loop. So, after the car warms up, I can force it into open loop and find out thhere and get back to you...

keep in minde to, if you are running the stock OL table that gas prices are going north very fast! The stock OL table is a rich tune, so it's quite likely to fix your pinging problem as well as empty your wallet!
