Question MAFT bypass cap mod

Did anyone ever download the modification that had been put up on vetteguru.com that details how to add the additonal bypass caps on the MAF Translator? I thought I had, but can't find it on my PC. And, vetteguru.com seems to be shut down at the moment. I'd sure appreciate it if someone could forward the page.

Thanks in advance.

MAFT's are outdated by todays standards. Before PCM tuning was avaiable this was one of the few but far from correct ways to compensate for major mods. If you need tuning i'd look into software like HPTuners or EFI live that allow you to adjust many settings in your pcm.

I looked at this a long time ago (having a MAFT 4.1
that I never did use or modify). I believe this fix is
for that vintage, and not the newer (5.x?) ones.

The file is too large for me to attach (I saved it
local which is always a good idea for this stuff, the
Internet is all shifting sands as far as the eye can
see). I excerpted the part about modifications and
attached it here.

jimmyblue, thank you very much! That's exactly what I was looking for!

SmokingWS6, I get it, but I'm a cheap SOB and for right now the MAFT is what I have. I'll be moving to tuning software eventually.

Fran D,
I did the modification because I had a lean hole at 4500 - 5000 rpm.
It helps but not completely. That's why I bought LS1Edit.

tici, I go lean from around 4500 up. It's just a stop-gap measure for now until I pony up for the software.

Oh well, as said it helps. The tantalium capacitors of the write-up are not bad, but I had better results using the double of the suggested value. You may have to try.

EDIT: the tantalium was OK, I only increased the capacity of the electrolytical one. Bigger capacitors won't have place on the bottom of the circuit, just solder them on the other side.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Anything made in the last 2 1/2 years or so is already done. That was really a Corvette issue since the ground system is not that great in those cars.
