Default Too much timing?

Can too much timing, affect your power? I noticed I'm running about 33º max. timing, and I've noticed my power is alot lower than others with similiar mods. Could this be the culprit or is it just different car syndrome.

Yeah it can. Its possible to go past the optimum thus you'll start losing some power. Are you getting any kr?

I read somewhere on here that some guys actually made more power with around 28-29 degrees. Might give it a shot.

the fueling and timing need to both be in sinck, richer and more timing might create better tq lower and less fuel less timing up high might create better hp match the two up for a nice medium, more area under the curve

I've personally never even touched my timing tables, but somehow they are up around 33º I am getting some knock, but I'm more thinking that it's the fact that my Y-pipe is sitting on my tunnel mount TA.

Once timing is past optimal the motor starts generating negative tq, to much timing also makes the engine work harder to create the same power....

the more mods you add to a car the less timing you usually run.
Look at a timing table for a transam and you will see about 28* max for wot.On a zo6 you will only see about 22 max for wot.More air and fuel that enters the less timing because it will burn more rapidly and get to full burn quicker.i run 24*max for wot and have about 350 rwhp. With a 224 i would put the timing around 23 and test it on a dyno against 33*.I will put money on it you will make more power with 23*.

I think that is more attributed to the better head design on the Z06 as opposed to the LS1....

good points but still run a little less timing with more airflow.try it on a dyno and see what happens.you might be suprised

you get a more rapid burn from higher compression seeing its closer to the bring of self combustion than a lower compression motor.
