Id also like to know what v2.0 has over 1.7. Is it worth my $99 to upgrade? Should I wait and do a hardware upgrade after the HW is released? Is that even an option?

Version 2.0.0

This is our second generation of software and our first major software upgrade. VCM Suite 2.0 is a complete rewrite taking over a years worth of feedback and experience from our 1.x line of software.

VCM Suite 2.0 uses a more graphical user interface than our previous version. It is also designed to be as functional as possible for the most advanced tuners while still remaining easy to use and user friendly for those just starting out. We believe that the new software build can cater to almost any tuner skill level.

VCM Editor
The new VCM Editor is now a combined edit utility as well as flash utility. Using the same piece of software you will be able to read the vehicle, make changes, and then write your changes back without ever having to open up any other applications. There are also many feature improvements including a full graphical color representation of parameters and very functional file compare.

VCM Scanner
The software now has a much more configurable interface. The interface and displays are fully configurable. One major feature of the VCM Scanner software is the ability to change your config file on the fly! While you're scanning you can load up various config files to adjust your chart, histogram and gauge layouts without even having to stop logging the vehicle.

Right Click Functionality
We have added even more right click functionality into our software. All parameters in VCM Editor can now be right clicked for quick modification and configuration. Items in VCM Scanner can also be right clicked for quick access to configuration screens.

Multi-Manufacturer Support
The software engine has been designed to allow the addition of other vehicle manufacturers. In the future we will be releasing more tuning products for other manufacturers using the same VCM Suite interface you have become so used to.

New User Interface
VCM Suite has received a major facelift in this version. The look and feel of the software is much more modern and full of color.

Thats a very broad description but v2.0 is a vast improvement over 1.7 from when you first open it you know its something special.

Specific improvements
Scanner
8 fully customizable histograms
Comment section
Customizable Gauges
now supports 48bytes of info ~40 parameters to be logged at once

Editor
Flash program now incorporated right into the editor so no need to open a separate program
Compare feature not locked to a specific OS
A comment section for each new bin so you can put any info about the tune or car
History of changes made from each new save even if you save it to a new name with a comment section so you can put a reason why you made the change or what have you.
You can choose a tree style navigator now if you so choose
Import/export change log should be available soon so you can make starter files & just load them into the OS
Description of each parameter, what it does and its limits clearly displayed when you hover over it with the mouse

I have been using 2.0 for about 2 months and it is by far, way better than 1.7. For those of you waiting for it you won't be disapointed at all. Even if you have to pay $99 for the upgrade, it's well worth it. Just think of it as another mod for your car.

But what advantage does it really offer besides a more friendly interface? What can't I accomplish with my 1.7? I have every intention of upgrading, but I need some convincing to change my mind from "eventually" to "immediately". Also, will they cut us a break if we upgrade hardware at the same time?

did you expect it to wash your clothes? what cant you accomplish with 1.7...nothing really...thats what I have been saying for the months leading up to 2.0...2.0 just makes things easier and more integrated...no more excel files for every little calculation I'd say is a plus. Being able to read and edit ls2 files as well as ford/chrysler stuff is a plus. I listed most of the things I got out of 2.0 maybe if you need more convincing you'll download the help file or ask someone in your area that has it walk you through it...thought it took me a month or so to learn all its new features thorougly. In the end its still a tuning program and its not gonna drive the car for you or push the buttons...but its about as close as it gets

If you have 1.7 then 2.0 should be a free upgrade. When I got hpt it was 1.6

2.0 is the ****. scanning and organizing data has been a lot easier. the filters are nice. i also like the favorites so i can keep stuff in there i am currently working on so i dont lose track of things. not that it was that big of a deal but a nice little thing to have. the markers and comments in the scanner are one of the best updates. this way when i go down the road and notice something odd in the way the car is i can throw a marker in and just go look at that frame. plus i can put that one extra pid in that i needed without having to do 2 different scans lol

Downloading the help file was the first thing i did . See, While I do like the sound of all the options and convenience, im on a limited budget. That hundred bucks could go toward some other mod. I need heads. I need wheels and tires. Ill probably need a clutch soon. If I can put off upgrading HPT, I might have to until other more pressing issues are resolved. Im not expecting it to come with an EASY button, but if it did come with a way to edit the "cam bucking table", maybe Id spring for it Being able to put in markers sounds nice, as does the extra PIDs. Sorry If i'm crying for some convincing. I really love the HPT product and id really like to support the company, but its hard to appropriate the money when I could see a greater ROI with another mod so long as Im willing to put in the time and effort of doing things the old way. I mean, it was good enough before... Its not like Im stuck using EDIT or anything

And to 02SOMWS6 - HPT was preordered before v1.x was first shipped, so my software upgrade service has long since expired. It was very kind of HPT to extend upgrades to the expired 1.x crowd as long as they did. They cant be expected to give their new software away to EVERYBODY. The hundred bucks mentioned above is to extend the upgrade service.

Thanks for all the input guys. I am itching for it now...
