Went to get an inspection today, luckily I work for a dealership. I failed and the reasons were for
catalytic converter efficency : not ready
heated 02 sensor: not ready
evaporative emmisions control system: not ready

I have no cats and no rear 02's I have all codes for them disabled completely. Luckily I can just have someone slap a sticker on or I can get foolers but I would of thought it would pass with the codes disabled to no report.

 

I would have the same codes as you but all of mine are in the ready status. How exactly did you turn em off (what did you set it to in EFILive or HPT)?

 

Using hpt set em to no error reported and ses enables-off

 

Try turning your SES enable back on. When turning off codes, I never turn that off. Just set the codes to No Error Reported.

I've always kept the SES enabled but set it to no error reported...no problems reported as of yet.

 

As everyone has said, re-enable the SES portion of the codes. This is what they scan for when doing OBD-II checks, not really if the code will be thrown upon an error, but that it is emissions enabled and ready.

 

Sounds like you didnt give it a couple of drive cycles to make sure all the readiness tests completed. In HPTuners you can check to see if theyve completed. Every time you clear a code or upload a .bin the tests reset and you need to wait for them to complete again.

 

Yup, just didn't give it enough time to complete all the tests. Give it more drive cycles and do not reprogram or clear anything. Setting the SES to enabled will not affect the readiness tests.

 

If you have no cats and no O2S, then these tests will never come ready.

 

no cats here, I do still have rear o2's. All my tests say ready except one. I as 02sierraz71_5.3 have ses set to off on those same items. In MD you are allowed to have one readiness test "not ready". More than one, then you fail. I am sure you already know 02sierraz71_5.3, everytime you load a change, your tests start over. GM Drive Cycle Website You might not get that Catalyst test (no cats)to become ready, but one shouldn't be that bad. Hell I think Cali allows two of them to not be ready, not for sure though.

joecar - Good point. The heated catalist readiness test will automatically complete once all BxS2 and BxS3 codes are disabled (No error reported).

02sierra - Theoretically all the tests should eventually complete except for systems that youve screwed with. Iv you took out your cats, you need to disable all the rear o2 codes and efficiency codes. If youve done !AIR, then you need to take out all the air system codes. When you remove ALL the DTC codes for a particular system, the readiness test is automatically set to complete.

2000 and earlier vehicles are allowed to pass with 2 readiness tests incomplete. 2001+ cars can only have one incomplete. Any SES light will automatically fail the car.

 

I have no cats, no o2's, no evap, secondary air system etc and all my tests show as completed except for my front o2's (full time open loop)

 

I have disabled all dtc's for the rear 02's, if what you say is true then the tests should pass. Im gonna go back through and disable all codes for cats and 02's.

eliminated code = no DTC = no failures = passed ready test

 

I need to check my codes because I have an inspection due soon.
