flash an 01/02 file into your PCM..... (requires a full rewrite/flash rather than a calibration only flash) (Note for others.. if you have a 98 PCM this does NOT apply...)

Big benefit is that you will only have 1 VE table (no secondary) .... for autos trans pressure won't go max when the MAF is disabled (to enter SD )

a car OS is like your computers OS.... improvements are made over time ... (unfortuanetly a car OS doesn't have "Automatic Updates" and you can't apply "patches" to it hehe)

Is it better to use my 99 file or use the 01/02 file?

you will be using an 01 or an 02 file (I preder the 02 for a few other tables that were added)
and you will be copying ALL of your tables and values from your 99 file to the new OS file

Just one more thing I need to do this next w/e. Good thing, I dont need to copy ANY of the trans tables now....TH350 just went in But, I figure other than the injector adjustment, and idle raise for the cam and 42#'s, I will start from scratch on a 2002 .bin.

Have there been any issues with doing a full flash of the operating system?

Will HPT 2.0 do the OS upgrade?

It's not that simple.

In order to do it, you have to have both licenses on one cable using HP Tuners.

For example, a 1999 F-Body and 2002 F-Body licenses must both be on the same cable so you can do a full flash of the newer OS.

How do I know this? Been there, done that....

Interested in this question as well. I have 01 license, but not 02.

I am guessing the differences between 01 and 02 are not great enough to justify buying the 02 license.

I ordered my cable with F-body 01 so I could upgrade. I guess I should have asked if 02 was better than 01 BEFORE I ordered.

I like the EFI Live custom operating system better than the '02 OS because not only do you get to use the higher resolution VE table for your tune, you also get to use both the high and low octane table when running in speed density. Very cool indeed.

Really the differences between 01 and 02 are negligable... the single VE table is the biggest thing (which 01s have as well)
