Lets talk PCM tuning and LS1-EDIT
Decay vs. RPM:
This is a factor that will effect how quickly knock retard is degraded once the knock counter has stopped incrementing. The greater the magnitude of this value the more quickly spark retard will return to zero on absence of any knock detection.
it also sounds that you can add fuel to cretain injectors as well. Did I read that right?

Hmm very interesting on the knock thing:

Yes you can but would need an individual cycl EGT setup to make true corrections. Unless you know another way to read each cycl AF ratio?

I know its old school, but you can read the plugs. Its not recommended to tune each cylinder unless you know what you're doing. It is cool that its possible.
Eric
I don't know using NOS or forced air that would be a key thing I would think.

It might be important(on high hp cars) but the ways to measure individual cylinders is expensive. Unless you are testing a custom intake that distributes the air weird it wouldn't be worth it. Having an EGT sensor on each primary is difficult as well with our engine/header configurations.
Bank to bank O2 sensor work well enough to diagnose if one side is having problems even if 1 cylinder is a little off.
If you guys want material to read the links I posted are good and also the Edit site.

Should I get a HPP3 now for my rear end swap, fan settings and maybe to bump the rev limiter later on with head and cam, or should I just bite the bullet and wait a month or for LS1-edit?

This sounds great...one question:

I would bet it will be more than a month on Edit. Get a used HPP and you can resell it for about what you paid if you want to tweak things now.

Hey guys! Great Topic!
I've been tuning LT1 PCM's in house for about 6 years now and have learned nearly everything there is to know about these computers. I recently acquired LS1 Edit for the '99 - '00 cars and let me tell you, there are some similarities but the LS1 PCM is extremely complex compared to the LT1. It is really a great program for people who wish to spend the necessary time learning about and tuning their cars. You will not be able to just "jump in" and start making adjustments to your PCM. The spark tables, knock retard and A/F ratio tables require a lot of time and patience to begin figuring out. Once you do though, fine tuning a car will be fairly easy. It's also nice to be able to select and turn off various codes to prevent any annoying check engine lights.
I've done several PCM's for cars in house now with various combinations and have seen some great results! I'll keep you guys better informed as I begin to master the program!

Hey Jason I can't wait until you can tune the 01's. I'll be up for that, plus some stage 2 heads soon!

The ones I've flashed into Caterpiller D engines are relativly small, around 175-250KB depending on the options within the program. Cat has sent programs to our shop via e-mail.

I'd imagine the later years will use the 400 or possibly an 800 (1 MByte file size).
OBDI LT1's used (2) 512kbit chips (128 kbytes), OBDII LT1's used (1) 512, (1) 28F010 chip (164 kbytes).
I'm no longer guessing as to availability. I asked this week about the '98 version, and was told it's gonna be a while, as they have a lot of stuff left to figure out.

Can someone confirm that we will be able to delete codes and change injector sizes in LS1 Edit?
Also, what about Torque Management!! Will we have the ability to modify??
Thanks in advance!
did you guys check this out, i didnt catch it at first.....

Now to more serious things , how and where do i go to get on the LT1 edit list. I must start learing now, so that in 2 years i'll be ready for the 2002 LS1 edit!
Thanks Brett, so I assume we can modify TM, very coo!!

I am assuming it will be like LT1 Edit where you can enable and disable certain codes. To be sure you can talk to Ken pcmdoc@surfree.com
The Edit list has a link on the site I posted or you can go to Topica.com and search LT1 Edit and you will find it.
