[quote] Ummm, they don't make a 1Ghz P4, nor do they make or ever made a 500Mhz P-II.
Eitherway those are some pretty steep requirements for a laptop IMO for a very slow data logging interface.
<hr></blockquote>

The requirements are not meant to be read as a single PC configuration. They are meant to be read as a set of individual recommended and/or minimum requirements. So the recommended PC would have a P4 (or equivalent/better) and it would be at least 1GHz, while the minimum spec would be a PII (or equivalent/better) and it would be at least 500Mhz.

Yes, they are high specs, and if we were just logging data then a 486 33Mhz would do. The data capture/logging feature is about 2-3% of the CPU usage as it is mostly I/O bound. Since the program is not "just logging data" it requires some processing power to "paint" the graphics.

That said, the graphics can be turned off so you could probably log your data using any old 486. However the minimum requirements include the ability to watch the gauges and or charts etc while logging is taking place.

As I said a P133Mhz may work - it only takes a few minutes to download the software and try it on any platform you like.

By the way the log file format is an open specification. We have made the file format available for anyone who wants to use the logged data in other ways. Or for people who want to capture logged data (in EFIlive format) using smaller/cheaper hand held devices. Or if people already have logged data they can convert it into EFIlive V5 format. The log files can then be uploaded to a desktop machine running EFIlive V5 for analysis.

We are also working on a small footprint data capture only program that will run on the cheapest of laptops (maybe even handhelds).

Any update on how much it costs if we want the software only? For those of us who already have an Autotap.
