i thought it would never end.. I think A4s take longer than M6's to read and program.. I just got my edit today and uploaded my pcm to my laptop. Havent programed anything yet. But it took a hour and 15 mins to read the PCM!!!!!
yes i have a very fast laptop also.. P3 with 192ram
does it normally take that long?? just wondering how long it takes to program the car also?? hopefully it wont be a hour +

Mine took about 14 minutes to read the PCM and all my uploads have taken less than 2 minutes.

Typically 30-35 minutes here. Writes are much faster (though I believe much less data is transferred) maybe 5 minutes or so.

Something is not right with your laptop if it's taking that long. I have a '98, and with a P133 lapdog / 40MB memory, it takes about 15 minutes to read, 2 minutes to write. Cripes, it takes longer for this machine to boot than it does to write a new program. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
My bet is that somehow your communications are being disrupted and the LS1Prog software is having to do 'retries'. Infrared services, virus scanner, FindFast, Defrag, heck - anything running in the background - can interrupt communications and cause a problem like this. You might check your task list (ctrl-alt-delete) and see what all is running on your laptop.
HTH,
Andrew

Yep, all the ones I have done have been under 20 minutes (don't know the exact time) - that's for reading. Writing takes under 2 minutes.

Just one Warning. If my laptop took more than 20 minutes to read the PCM, I WOULD NOT TRY TO WRITE TO THE PCM.

The read time should be 14 to 15 minutes. If it is taking longer, you are having communications problems. Did killing off the Background programs speed things up?
