I haven't heard of issues with the GMAF. I had one, no problems.

If you want a used MAFT, I'll sell you mine for $125

It's CARB approved so it's calibrated to run just like a stock one on our cars. So it will throw no codes.

The SLP version is LS1 calibrated also.
To say neither will throw any codes is flat out false.

You're probably getting the same SES light that I did when I installed my 85mm maf.

MAF High Frequency.

Easiest thing to do is have the code deleted from the computer via reprogramming.
Solved my problem.

Instructions on How to Reset the LS1 ECM
Submitted by: Scott Harroff

This is intended to reset that aggravating 'Service Engine Soon' light so many of us seem to see. The light is normally set due to a loose gas cap or a high frequency error on the mass air flow sensor in front of the intake manifold. If the light persists, you may want to have you car checked by a GM dealer. It may be a good idea to remove your K&N air filter, and replace it with the stock filter or equivalent before your visit to the dealer. Dealers, in the past, have been known to blame the MAS error on excessive oil in the K&N leaking onto the MAS. If the fuses aren't removed in this procedure, the codes will be stored in the ECM until the fuses are removed, or the dealer clears them with a scan tool. Rumors have it that stored codes retard timing and spark ignition which will hender the performance of you LS1.

1. Turn key on but don't start car.
2. Pull PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment.
3. Wait a few minutes.
4. Turn ignition off.
5. Replace fuses.

It will take the car a while to relearn the fuel and timing curves so don't worry about a temporary performance loss.

Default SES light GMAF

u guys sure that's what code you're throwing? I installed my GMAF and consistently threw 170,174 - running too lean! I have since sent it back to Granatelli and am awaiting a new unit. I have heard from a few others that they got the same situation with no resolution - will post my results with the new unit as soon as I get it.

aftermarket mafs trick the computer into seeing less air,

less air, makes the computer give less fuel, and more timing.

Any aftermarket maf (other tha the pro M univer) is a joke on these cars.

you might make a few hp with it, but it is just from timing, and fuel, not from the larger inlet opening.

I can go on for hours, with details is necessary, but that is the summary/bottom line.

You should definitely get the code diagnosed so you know for sure what it is! I started throwing a too lean code after my I got my headers (I also have a GMAF), but it's really just the combination of your other intake/exhaust mods that usually contribute to a lean/rich condition. Vacuum leaks can also contribute.

You may want to just go ahead and reset the code, but if it pops up again, get it scanned to find out what it is.
