WTF - Deleted TM w/ Edit and still get .......

Default WTF - Deleted TM w/ Edit and still get .......

negative timing during the shifts.

In the Trans Cal section I zero'd the TQ reduction table.

In the Eng Cal section I:

1. set max TQ to 600
2. zero'd the TCS retard table (already at zero)
3. zero'd the 2nd TCS retard table
4. zero'd the Abuse Mode Reduction table

Still pulls timing on WOT run shifts. Am I missing a table somewhere? Anyone run into this problem yet? HELP!!!

Welcome to the world the LS1edit.. I have been having this problem since LS1edit was introduced... MTI and I cannot seem to delete this funtion.. no matter what we do..I send Ken a copy of my file to see if he can delete this..

I will let you know if it is taken off...A4's SUCK ***

That's disappointing... I was hoping to have mine deleted.

This is normal from the GENLS1, same as on the Holden Commdore here, this a log file showing you 1-2 gear change at -8.5 degrees, this log file was capture via EFILiveV5 excellent program.

Here is a Excel file of the about log file, the program can make a csv file for you, then you import into Excel and you don't need to edit the file at all, Noticed the -8.5 degrees.

SIKLS1, Thanks for the info. I'm actually looking for the fix through Edit on this one. I know that negative timing during the shifts is programmed in, I'm trying to find out how to get it out.

Ken? Ryan? Brain V? Ed? Team ZR-1?

Has anyone actually tried putting timing in the spark retard limit table ? i.e. running 10 deg from 2000 rpm and up.

I'm seeing 9.5 degrees advance during WOT gearshifts with my A4. I'm beta testing LS1 Edit in Australia and have been able to confirm with EFILive that the PCM is setting 9.5 - 10 degrees during WOT shifts after I set the values to 10 degrees from 2000 rpm up..

Try adjusting the values in the spark retard limit table. Try 10 degrees, then progressively increase the value and record the WOT timing during shifts. That should fix your problem. However, it will probably reduce the life of your trans. Mine does BIG 1-2 skids now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

really slow truck, Adjusting the spark retard table to a positive number will prevent drops into the negative but I'm pretty sure that table isnt just for TM. I think there must be another controlling table for TM that Edit is not yet capable of identifying. I still have heard no reply from Ken K. on this problem via email.

is that the only thing controlled by the spark retard table? im going to the track tonight and hoping to find a way to get rid of that damn -7 to -10* on the 1-2 shift. i have my torque abuse set to 25% instead of 100%, will zero that out, but it didnt seem like it helped at all, still got -10 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

right now i think pretty much the only way to to adjust that spark retard table. i may be wrong though. but i do know for sure this can cure it. i zero'd them out on my truck last time at the track and my timing went to 0, before it was at -10 and thats what i saw. i assume if u set it to any other number thats what it will go to but not sure what ammount of timing would be safe

I have fuel pulled as well after the 2-3 shift and it holds the rpm's to 4500 until I pedal it, we just can't figure this one out.

There has to be some magical cure for this. I know Ed Wright and Mike Morgan PCM's aren't doing this.

TIMING DURING THE SHIFT IS IN THE SPARK RETARD LIMIT TABLE.
Stop messing with the TM tables.
You can set your shift timing anywhere you want in this table.
stock is -10. I set mine at 18 and get 18 degrees on each shift. Actually for some reason A-tap shows up 1/2 degree less than you program in so I now see 17.5.
The table should be re-labled IMO to avoid this confusion as it seems that is all it does is to control the shift timing.
Shift speed table, IMO may be tied into this and could affect how long this table is activated.
I am not positive though.

SJH: Thanks for putting it in blunt terms for us; our Aussie mate tried to tell us that, but it didn't sink through. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I think I'm going to try either +10 or +15 above 5600 rpms and leave it alone below that. That way at WOT or near WOT I'll have more power, but no extra wear at lesser part throttle speeds.

SJH,

I agree with you that setting the timing to a positive value does indeed prevent negative timing during the shifts. I did it at the track and had a marked improvement and it feels damn good. But are you 100% sure that that table is only for timing during shifts? I've been looking for a solid answer on this for a few weeks now and nobody seems to know.

So I guess the real question in this topic is:

Is the Spark Retard Limit table ONLY for controlling retard during the shifts, or does it serve multiple purposes?
