Default Best Shift Points...

Ok, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I have searched and not found anything that I'm looking for, so I'll ask everyone here....

Car is '98 Trans Am, A4, 80,000 miles
Mods are-
direct-flo lid, slp smooth bellow, stock exhaust manifolds with ORY into Magnaflow Catback, with QTP Electric Cutout, B&M 3000 stall converter & tranny cooler.

I've had no kind of tuning, there's really no where local to get it done...
Have thought of a mail-order tune here lately, might have to look into it...

I have a Hypertech PPIII, and it adjusts shift points, shift firmness, shift rpms and by mph, rev limiter, fan control, recalibrating speedo and all.....plus it has the Power Programming which I took off because it made the car run so lean...
I just got the converter in about a week ago, and I have kind of a hesitation between shifts, it'll just hang around 6L for a sec or 2 before it shifts into the next gear, like it's not used to getting there that fast...

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should raise the shift firmness to, and what would be some good shift points(by rpms) in all gears, and what my rev limiter should be too...

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Shift firmness is based on personal preference, as well as data.

WOT shift points can be determed by powerband on the dyno

Part throttle shifts are best determined based on the vehicle acceleration rate.

So basically I need to get on the dyno before I set my shift points up...

You need to bring the MPH in, after a converter swap.
Converter lets the RPM "stretch ahead" some, maybe
enough to hit the limiter.

Depending on where in Virginia, maybe some of the
North Carolina folks might be able to help you. Try
your regional forum with a call-out for HPTuners
people, '98-Fbody licensed.

Haven't seen too many people with LS1s running the
B&M converters. How do you like it, how strong is
the lockup clutch (slip on uphill grades or stay locked,
etc.)?

I love the converter, no problems whatsoever. I'm in a pretty hilly area, that's why I only went with a 3000 for now. It locks up around 50 mph usually, and it doesn't slip much at all going uphill. I'm usually around 2000-2500K going up most hills around here.
And do you mean bring the mph down before it shifts.? or go up some.? I misread it..
