Default ABS inop, and ASR off

I finally got my car started today after sitting for about 8 months. Put a new 370 heads/cam, blah blah blah. Anyways, i was out breaking her in. I drove around for about 20 mins, and then all of a sudden my ABS inop light, and my ASR off lights are on for no reason. I cant get the ASR back on with the button, and the ABS doesnt seem to be working either. Whenever i turn the car off, and start it back up they go away, but then my low traction light comes on, and whenever i try to get going, my traction control comes on, and does its little deal, and whenever i hit the brakes, the ABS comes on and makes it real akward to stop. After a couple stops, the low trac light goes off, and the ABS inop, and ASR off lights come back on. Does anybody know what could be causing this, and if it would come up with a handheld scanner? I was thinking maybe the wheel speed sensors, but they are all hooked up, and seem to be working alright. The only other thing that might affect this is that i put a new wheel stud on one of my back wheels, im not sure if that would make a difference though. Thanks for the help, and sorry for the long post.

Clif notes: ASR off, and ABS inop lights are on. What could be causing this?

If the wheel stud is not pulled all the way through
it might be upsetting the sensor chopper field
signal and giving the ABS false wheel speed.

hmmm... we pulled it through about as far as the others using an open ended lug nut, and an impact gun. I'll check it out whenever i redo my brakes soon.

You might pull the speed sensors and clean off the magnets. It sounds like the system can't get a consistent reading. Mine flips out as well but only over 70MPH.

that would probably help, since there is quite a bit of dirt/dust around them. What should i use to clean them? Would canned air work alright, or a liquid cleaner?

I'd use some brake cleaner, that'll get 'em.

Mine has been doing that lately. When I crank my car sometimes my asr off light will come on and the asr button will not work. I might drive a few miles and it will come back on.

I dont remember it doing it before I put my linelock on my car, but that may just be coincidence.

If I'm on the highway for more than 1 hour cruising above about 75mph, they come on and stay on until I turn the car off, than back on.

wierd.

where is this speed sensor at? I put new studs on both of my front wheels and my ABS INOP/TCS OFF lights have been on. That might be my problem cause I have cleaned the little plug things twice thinking that would fix it

My absinop light just came on yesterday, for no reason. I was just driving along. About a yr 1/2 ago same thing happened and it turned out to be a bad wheel speed sensor. So im thinking this time its the same thing, I talked to brake check they said they will inspect it for free and tell me whats wrong with it. I like the sound of that, if they can tell me what sensor is bad I will replace it myself.
Hope they can do that.

after installing my new 9" mine started doing the same thing, but at all speeds. Someone told me that they had the same issue and that it was their wheel studs causing interferance with the readings. I was told to get about 1" of pvc pipe, and place the sensor in it, use 4 small washers to move the sensor back and clean it. havent had a chance to do it though. i hope it works.

Your ultimate goal is to get the magnetic sensor far enought from the stud bolt heads so that they don't create an additional electric field and **** up the abs readings. Hope this helps.

if you do fix the problem it takes 300 key cycles to let the light reset i had bad wheel speed sensors and it did that i also have a strange 12 bolt and the screw in studs backed off a bit that was also a problem too
