P.S., I'll move this to the Computer Diagnostics and Tuning section...

i just have a cam and 11.3 compression. i havent tuned it yet, but my timings at 29@WOT with 0degrees knock. pulls like a ****

Re: How many head/cam cars running more than 26* for max power?
Thank all of you guys for useful replys, i am looking to estimate how much power i am leaving on the table with out pcm tuning on a 2001 m6 Z28 with everything done other than headers or tuning. I have leaned translator down to make 375 hp and 360torque , but max timing is 26*, i think more timing and extra fuel would make sweet difference. Anymore input would be greatly appreciated!

When I was cam and headers my timing was 30 to 31 at WOT.. I think 29 degrees will show you a nice gain across the board..

You can't really compare timing like that across combinations. On ported heads chamber design (flame speed, cylinder filling (flow/velocity), charge quality, etc.) can all have pronounced effects on timing requirements. Throw in a different cams with totally different overlap/cylinder pressure characteristis, then headers, exhaust, etc. and you have too many variables.

I'd be curious to see what HP changes you've found from going from, say 27* up to 29 or 30?
On a dyno (heads/cam car) I noticed 0 HP gain (peak and curve).

I just tuned my corvette. I added 2 degrees of timing on the high table and bumped the low table to 27 degrees. The car is day and night difference from before. I uploaded the stock program and the car falls flat on its face. Stock programming put down 421/400 at the wheels.
