A4 ported MAF kills transmission? HELP!
1. buy ls1edit and firm up the shifts and a bunch of other things.
2. install a shift kit
3. the easiest thing to do,, drop the tranny pan, and give the epc solenoid about 1/4 of a turn.
I was reading that a ported MAF, Granatelli, lower trans line pressure and causes sloppy shifts and can produce more heat - resulting in transmission failure. Any word on this? HELP! Should I even bother buyng one. Forget it? Is it worth it? Can I fix this problem?

Well after 6,000 miles with ported maf ends I just lost 3rd and 4th in my car !
It all started well, but turned awful in 8 short months !

I had too many problems with a ported MAF on my car. For 8 months I could not figure out why the car woult not shift correctly and seemed so soft on the shifts. I swapped to a stock unit and IMEDIATELY felt the difference and the thing would shift like it was supposed to. So I am speaking from first hand experience, not just something I read somewhere.

When you port the MAF you lie about airflow.
When you lie about airflow you lie about motor torque.
When you lie about motor torque you lie about line
pressure needed to hold said torque without slipping.
So say hello to your new bucket of friction silt, from
your 300HP disc sander.
Of course this is all fixable in the tune but ghetto mods
tend to be done with a corresponding level of clue and
funds. Personally I think this kind of thing accounts for
why some people go through transmissions like popcorn
with low mods, and some people get good service out of
one despite high power levels and racing weekly.
