Im getting a code 1336 after replacing my pcm. Is it necessary to actually have the crankshaft position learn procedure done with a tech 2? does it hurt to drive it while this hasnt been done?
If it doesnt i'll probably just tell ls1edit not to set a ses light for this code.

Yes, you need to have it done every time you change the pcm. You can try a few things:
1)Put car in park and rev above 4500rpm,
2)drive 40mph for at least 5 miles.
Clear the code before doing these things. Another way to check to see if it worked is to autotap your car and check current misfires on all 8 cylinders. If you get any high numbers...then you need tech2.

thanks for the tip. I cant clear the code with autotap. If i reset the pcm, it seems to be there as soon as i start the car.
Are you saying to reset the pcm, then start the car and immeditaely rev to 4500 for a while?
I will look at my misfires in autotap, but wouldnt it throw a code if it was off? i have the misfire code disabled at idle though because of the cam.
thanks agian,

is it hurting to drive it like this?

I would have the car at operating temp. Then do your 45000rpm rev. Then do a reset of the pcm. If you have random misfires turned off...then no you will not see a code for that. Just look at your misfires for each cylinder.
From what I understand...a blinking SES needs immediate attention.

As far as I know, as long as the crank and cam are not physically out of sync then it won't hurt it, it just can't fine tune itself to the engine. but I wouldn't waste any time getting it done and I wouldn't run it hard until you do just to be safe. If I remember right they plug this thing in and rev the engine to 3k for 5 seconds, let off, then like 5k for 5 seconds then it's done. There's really not much to it.

Is TechII the only scan tool that can invoke this learn/relearn procedure? Do any of the other software based scanners do this (Ease, EFILive, AT)?

I have the CPR issue right now because I swapped ECMs and went to Ed Wright tuning with my engine swap.
The dealership can't get the ECM to learn the crank position because every time I rev to 4.5k it stalls when it comes back down.
I have a 222/224 .571"./.571" on 114 cam with Stage II ported heads. I have the TB drilled to 1/4" and have another smaller 3/32" hole. IAC counts are 120+ at startup, but go down to 0 in Park when warmed up. Still 20-40 in gear when warmed up.
Any ideas on how I can get it to idle better or ideas on why it would stall after a rev ?
