Default Guys with newer laptops....

Which Serial - USB adapter are you using? I just bought a new laptop and couldn't find one with a serial port, so now I need an adapter that works! I bought one from RadioShack and went to download my program from the car into the laptop and it kept loosing connection in the middle of the download! Thank god I wasn't trying to upload a program, cuz I heard it won't harm if it loses during a download, only during an upload, so my computer should be ok, right? Car started fine, so assuming all is good. Anyways, let me know what you all use and where to get it, thanks!

I bought the off shelf version BestBuy had. I know I paid too much for it, that's for sure. The only issue I ran into is that I tried to pull it straight out of the box and use it. It wouldn't connect at all. Upon further investigation, there was a CD hidden between the front and back of the packaging that contained the proper driver to allow it to work. Once I loaded it, everything was good. I've read the PCM and scanned with no issues. I have not attempted to write yet, but I foresee no problems.

It developed a short. You have to shake the crap out of it sometimes so it'll connect. lol

I tried too, but with this one it didn't give an option in device manager to up the speed.

It should only take about 2:30 to read the entire pcm with a Keyspan cable.

Not to start anything but EFI Live's current interface uses USB Already Seriously, I got a serial to USB adapter to calibrate/work with LogWorks & LC-1 from Walmart http://www.iogear.com/main.php?loc=product&Item=GUC232A. This one works.
