EFI live anyone using it? figure it out?
anyone figure it out?
Im trying to work on the data loging part as i found out that it didnt come with autotap, but has logging capibilties.
any tips would be helpful.
Im trying to display the data after a run in a chart so i can see everything at once.
Hey, did you notice that the CD had the autotap software but when you try using it by connecting to the car it won't work? I guess you need another plug for the autotap software? Oh well, I wanted EFILive anyway, that's why I went in on the GP. Now I just have to figure it out.

I think you just need to buy the license for it its like $130ish, unless you know some one with it already.
i spent some time with it today of some files i loged, seems complecated. found that im getting 0.97 degrees knock at 5.5k ish depending on which gear, none in first some in second at 5.8k and 5.5k for third and 5.2k in second.
Im far away in learning how to change timing, fuel and spark.
For logging, the only real difference with Autotap is that EFILive uses a slightly different naming scheme on some of the parameters and logs more data in the same amount of time. You just have to add/delete what parameters you need on the F12 screen. Once you've exported your log file, using the data in Excel is the same as it would be for Autotap. So if you have a spreadsheet set up for Autotap, you should be able to use it for your exported EFILive data.
I've only been using EFILive for almost a week and have had no problems with logging and I have no experience with Autotap. I just read the Autotap threads here and on other forums to see what they were logging and what they did with that data and thats worked well for me.

Anyone know of a website or other resource to get help using EFILive? I'm sure a lot of us would appreciate some help.
I wish there was a comprehensive user's guide out there somewhere. I've had it for about 3 weeks and haven't really done anything but logging a couple of runs.

There was a option on that Pace GP to get both Autotap and EFIlive but you had to pay extra for it. There really isn't a reason to get both unless you want to use it with a non-LS1 car. EFILive will do everything that Autotap can do and more.

Yeah, I know but why would the CD that comes with EFILive even have the Autotap software on it if you can't use it? My CD had like 3 different options;
1. Download EFILive V5
2. Download Autotap for GM vehicles...
3. Download for PIDs...
or something on those lines.
I figured, what the heck I'll try to download both EFILive and Autotap since I am already familiar with autotap and how to use it. It downloaded fine, but when I try to use it, it says I'm not licensed or something???

If you want, i can send you some log file of my car to look at.
If you purchase EFILiveV5 and it not working click on help file and look for license section and enter your license number in, then the software is unlocked to record more than 5 second of data.
I hope this help.
Alot of software companies do this. They only have to make 1 product CD to see for all their products (eg. saves them money) Its the Registration info that you enter that unlocks it. It also makes it easier to upgrade when you purchase additional products as they just mail you another access key.

Now things are clear.
