Default Pissed!!

I wake up, and go downstairs to wash my car to enjoy the day with it.

As I walk toward the car, I notice it's lop-sided. WTF? I look, and my BRAND NEW (less than 300 miles) 315/35/17 Dunlop SP8000 is FLAT!! Big *** screw right in the middle of it. DAMNIT!!!

So I throw on my 275/40/17s (which look like spare tires in comparison), and decide that while I'm washing the car, I'll remove the HPP3 tuning.

I plug in the HPP3, and WTF! It won't get power... it for some reason isn't starting... GOD!! I'm soooo angry this morning. Why won't things just go right!

Anyone experience this problem with their HPP3? It worked just fine before, I have no idea why it has it's panties in a bunch now. If it turns out the unit is defective, should I give Hypertech a call? I bought the unit used. If I call them, what should I say? Will they care that I didn't buy it brand new?

Also, if for whatever reason, I'm stuck with this HPP3 tuning, is there anyway to clear the computer of it? Damn, I'm going to lose my 160deg thermostat setting

Where's my noose??

They won't know you didn't buy it brand new. How old is it? Do you know? They will honor it if it's truely defective.

Not sure how old it is.

I guess I'll call them up on Monday. If they decide not to warranty it for whatever reason, what are my options for getting the tuning off the car?

Would it not fire up if the battery was dead?

Is the battery just to store VIN information?

If you tell them you bought it used they won't touch it.

The HPP is supposed to draw its power from your OBDII data port. If you've got a blown fuse (cig adapter circuit, I believe), then that would explain why the HPP would not power up. Older ones (for OBDI LT1's, for example), used batteries because power was not available in the ALDL connector. But the OBDII data port has power right there. Check your fuses.

And the above comments about warranty are correct. If you tell them you bought it used, they will not talk to you any more ("you're on your own").

Good luck,

Andrew

Interesting.

I just put in a Pro 5.0, I wonder if I messed something up with the cigarette lighter.

Where are the fuses? I just got my car

Cig lighter fuse is on the end of the dash on the driver's side. You may have grounded the hot lead when doing the shifter and blown the fuse. Been there, done that.
