Default Knock sensor Question

Well we were out tuning the truck the other Day on the street. With 4 more degrees we didn 't see any knock retard . We decided to get more aggresive with the spark and raise it 8 degrees higher than stock.
with the 8 degrees over stock we heard some detonation/ pinging under hard throttle but nothing happing on the tech 2 and no retard in timing ?
this has us baffled could i have a bad knock sensor ?is there a way to test it ?
anything that i can do with ls1edit to make it more sensitve ?

jim
