Anyone happy with mail order tuning?

Anyone happy with mail order tuning? I am building a 422 and will be needing my tuning done. The closest shop with ls1 edit is at least 4 hours away. Is anyone happy with mail order tuning? I see a few shops offering it. I was considering raging motorsports. Any input is appreciated.

Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? MTI did a very good job on my mail order tuning. The only issue was that it took a few trys to get the shift points down right. Eventually, I ended up getting my own LS1 Edit and made some further changes to some fixed values, but as far as the actual tune MTI did great considering my car was hundereds of miles away <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? I did a cam, ls6 intake, 3,42 gear change, and super yank 3500. Had Ron Zimmer do the program and it is perfect first try. I have also heard good things about Ed Wright and Mike Morgan on mail order.

Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? I originally had Ed Wright do my programming...took a few tries, but we got it right. The problem was, I kept modding the car and changing things that affected my tune. I ended up just using LS1edit. In PA, I'd give Rapid Motorsports (Reading, PA) a call...Mikey will tune with LS1edit for you.

Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? I have not been very happy with ED WRIGHT tuning. He did a pretty good job when I had stock internals , but I put a 224 cam in and I now have drivability problems even after tuning. He told me 150.00 for updates and then charged 200.00. Plus after 5 trips back at 50.00 freight per trip , trying to get things right , I now have about 900.00 to 1000.00 in a locked computer that is still not WRIGHT. SOOOOO... I WOULD & WILL definately spend MY money only on DYNO TUNING !!!

Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? I"m having a local engine building put the engine together for me. Rapid is close to 5hrs away. That's probably what I"ll end up doing though. Him or F-body central.

after talking to Tom at ls1speed, I am having him do my dyno tuning and fuel system, debating whether to have them do the tnt 100 shot at the same time. it's 9 hours away, but worth it!

Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? Due to my location, mail order was the only choice for me. I had Ed Wright send me a programmed PCM & I kept the stock one. His program is working fine. Iam still having some idle problems, but I guess this probably due to the big cam Iam running in my 427.

Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? He can't...Ed Wright locks the program <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> He will adjust it if you're not happy though. Sending it back and forth is a PITA...and gets expensive.
Re: Anyone happy with mail order tuning? DON'T do it! Call the guys at Carputing and ask them where the BEST and closest tuner is to your location. Then determine IF you want them to tune it. Ed is a nice guy but there's a reason they use to call him Ed WRONG. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> He never got mine right and always blamed it on the head and cam set up. NEVER his tuning. Buy your own copy of LS1edit and get a knowledgeable person to do for you. It will be worth the trip in the end.
