Put it up on jackastands and put it in reverse. Putt a brick or heavy book on the gas pedal and go inside for a couple hours.

The miles are there for a reason. Just mentally calculate the miles on the drivetrain and leave the odo alone. Miles on the chassis still count for something, new engine or not.

remove gauge bezel

insert large flatblade screwdriver into digital odometer, tap sharply with hammer then twist 2-4 turns

the little red numbers will bother you no more.

If you want it that bad i think its a new gauge bezel and coputer from the factory(I think) , kinda pricey

O yea, my parents have an 82' vette, and since they first bought it in 82' SOB's odometer has turned over 3 times. 27K miles in 21 years of daily driving.

Sory to post this in here but, if I buy a new gauge cluster to send to Granatelli to have it recalibrated to 200mph. Is there any place I can take it to to have the mileage changed to match the stock 1......TIA Scott

I believe the mileage is stored in the gauge cluster.

When the dealer has to replace the cluster, they have to send it out to AC Delco to have the original miles programmed into the new cluster.

Mileage is also stored in the PCM.

I recently replaced the cluster in my truck with the Denali cluster. I received the cluster and the odometer read 0 miles. I ran the new cluster for about 1500 miles until I took it to get reprogrammed. I had to take it to a 3rd party company to have it programmed. There was not a dealer around here that COULD program the mileage into the new cluster. Everyone waanted to send it to the place where I ended up taking it to get it done myself.

If you want 0 miles on your car, just order you a new gauge cluster.

If you want to get it re-programmed to show the correct mileage on your car, talk to a few dealerships and find out where they are sending it to get done, then you can send it there yourself, and save from having to pay the middle man and probably a lot of time as well.

Yes, 1fastWS6 is right.
Mileage is stored in the gauge cluster.
My friend had his cluster replaced in his Z28 and they did not put his mileage in the new cluster. It was at 0 miles when he picked it up. Supposedly the tech did it as a favor, but I think that he was paid by my friend.

...turning back the odometer is illegal in all 50 states. This could be a felony fraud depending upon the fair value of the deception....

...our cars are depreciating at a super fast rate....this irrepective of the actual or "represented" mileage...so just hot rod the **** out of it and just enjoy the car...

if you want investment returns, try the stock market ...at least you won;t end up in jail...
