Default Idles fine until i floor it then it idles high

my car idles perfectly fine, no surging or anything. driving around town it idles perfect, but if i get on it hard through a couple gears, when i let off the gas, it wont idle below approx. 2k rpms. then, if i turn the ac on(even if i turn the ac right back off within 1 sec of turning it on), the car will idle back to normal. also, if i dont hit the ac, i can blip the throttle after it goes to 2k rpms and it will drop back down. whats even more wierd is if i give it any gas at all after it drops down to normal idle, it jumps back up to 2k rpms, even if i only barely tap the gas. does anybody have any idea what this could be? the car is a heads cam 96 6-spd LT1 with OBDII. I know this is a LS1 deal but LT1 OBDII should be almost identical. thanx for any help you can offer.

Check the simple mechanical things first.
Particularly the cable action / throttle
stop. Accumulation of crud, gum, oxidation
on the exposed cable at the throttle body
end may make its retraction "sticky". Some
graphite spray lube after cleaning might
be the ticket. If you've snugged up your
cables for maximum throttle opening, might
they be one click too snug for the spring,
given eventual cable crustiness?
