As a person who tunes cars on occasion, I will state that I *HATE* ported MAF sensors. For example, last weekend, it took me an hour and a half of driving around to develop a new curve for a guy who had ported his MAF. It's not a simple "multiply table by 110%" function when you're trying to do it right. It'd go rich in some areas, lean in others, especially at lower throttle positions. Had it been stock, we could have moved on much quicker to other tuning aspects. It is not a restriction for most motors.

I say leave it stock. It does make it easier to tune in the future.

Keep it stock... Ported MAFs are nothing but headaches -

After porting mine and taking the screen out, I ended up going to a salvage yard and getting another stock, screened MAF.

That tell you anything? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Leve it stock or buy an Extended MAF where they know what the MAF curve/Calibration should be.

"Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time"

And you will do the time, trying any workaround
and additional bolt-on you can find, to cover up
what the ported MAF has changed.

Ported MAF sensors and their bastard stepchildren*, MAF Translators, are not condemned often enough. I think they should be sold with warning labels explaining the importance of accurate MAF calibration. I hope this thread persuades a few beginners to avoid this mistake.
