Default Help. DTC P0117

I hope you guys can help. I can't start the 2002 ls1 motor in my 1994 mazda rx-7. I scanned it with hptuners and i'm code - P0117 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage

Is this preventing my engine from firing? I have checked all my wiring and they all seem fine.

Please help

Unplug the ECT connector (make sure it won't rest on the exhaust header), and then try to start engine.
It will now throw DTC P0118, but at least you'll be able to start.

Ok, I'm throwing both codes (P0117 and P0118). What should I do now?

I'd check that there isn't something more wrong with it. Check
the +5V PCM outputs at the connector and the signal on the
ECT high side, open I think it should pull up to 5V and attached
be in the couple of volts range. You may have a power problem
that's just messing with the sensor.

I have to take it in to the speed shop on Monday anyway to get all of my suspension parts installed along with my 253 heads. I'll have him check it out then. Thanks for the advise.

Ok. I found out what it was. It wasn't plugged in. I was supposed to have a water temp gauge installed in a double gauge pillar, but I didn't have the right connectors. He probably unplugged it before he realized that I didn't have everything I needed to install, and forgot to plug it back in. I'm glad I didn't have to go through all this crap to see what it was. What a pain in the *** though.
