Seems like it is a problem on the newer units...mine came from their second production run, and it has been flawless up to this date (and I run it full time in my exhaust). Keep in mind, though, that the LC-1 itself does not have a gauge. You can hook it up to a gauge as I have with the Innovate XD-16 (a very nice gauge), but that is extra money.

my ls1 worked great for the first 2 hrs. now it jumps between 12 and 18 AFR. W/ the car off its at 20.9 as it should be. But when i go WOT its at 7 (pegged rich) and I know the AFR is fine. I verified its not my wiring as logworks says the same thing HPT says. POS!!

Flawless since I got it (June/July 2005), and I have been running it full time (except while I took it off car to chop the wiring up to crimp on proper oem connectors earlier this year).

i just played w/ my LC1 again,a nd sure enough it works perfect for 3 or 4 mins. then it goes to hell. Starts reading 20 then 7. usually resting on 20 or so. WOT is 7 lol Yet it''ll work perfect for a few mins. My LM1 never had an issue w/ this.

Ive had my Lc1 running as the stock narrowband for about a month now, works perfectly so far, and I only did the intial open air cal. I also wired up the heater circuit using the stock NB O2 heater 12V power. I cant see it switching(as stock NB) beacuse I think I have the scan rate set too fast(lost my freaking serial plug) but it passes the emissions switching check, and the WB output works great.

Hmmmmmmmmm...this seems to be a recurring problem with the newer batches of LC-1s...mine has never done it, even in the collector.

same deal for me man, i made a shield for it and it did nothing. PITA esp when you have some great data that gets messed up by a wb overheating

Just to add another in the mix. I'm currently waiting on another unit as well. Same overheating problem. After rewiring it several times per innovates instructions I ultimately ended up buying a new O2 sensor after they advised me an overheating sensor (in free air) is probably damaged. Got the new sensor...same problem. God I hope the new unit doesn't do this...

The LC-1's are either defective or have different operating paramaters. I have the LM-1 and i've never seen it overheat, its been in efi and carbed cars. Sometimes in the collector.

If wonder if the problem is related to wiring? Bad ground, excessively long wire runs, narrow guage wiring, bad positive connections ect? I'm not sure what the units wattage rating is but i've felt the cigg lighter plug become warm after use.

tried the ripoff heatsink... but where my O2 sensor is located... the heatsink + O2 sensor interferes w/the transmission bell housing

Gotta get a new bung installed further downstream

my LC1 uses alot of my LM1 parts... alot of splicing... but all good connections, wires as short as possible.... my weak link is I'm using hte cig lighter still for power/ground

I can drive for 20 mins no prob...then it overheats... other times it overheats quickly.... so far I've just been unplugging it and plugging it back in (cig lighter)

I replaced my spark plugs today and the old ones weren't too good of shape... so maybe that was part of it....

hopefuly if it ever stops raining, i'll be able to test it at the track in the morning (car's ready, all grease fittings regreased, rear is finally centered, fresh oil, fresh spark plugs, fresh trans fluid, fresh diff fluid, new plug wires, all coil pack connections cleaned, new fuel filter) slicks are on, tow arranged ... but track is 160 miles away so depends on this mornings weather )

This is not what I wanted to hear. My LC-1 worked fine for a full day and a half and started getting the dreaded 8 blinks of the led and the 20+ readout on the gauge. I bought another sensor from the VW dealer but haven't installed it yet. Looks like it might be just a waste of time now. My sensor was installed in the header collector in place of the pasenger O2.
