Default ANOTHER overheating issue with the WB????

what the hell, i got a brand new one today and the same thing is happening. should i calibrate the heater in the hot exhaust and then pull it out to do a free air cal? this is getting rediculous, now i wish i never went with innovate.

Man...you are having the worst luck. Do you have it in the header collector? That's where mine is, granted it is housed in an HBX-1 right now. Haven't had much of a chance to go beat on it yet, but I've had no issues whatsoever.

The heater cal shouldn't have an impact on this one...

I have had no issues with overheating. Where is the O2 sensor mounted? I have mine in the driver side leg of the Y-pipe, just after the header collector. You can make a heatsink and the instructions shows you how. I calibrate mine when the sensor engine is cold and has been sitting for 12 hours.

I have never had any issues with any LM1 or LC1's doing this. Might be a dumb question that has already been asked in the other thread, but is it wired correctly?

My controller went out as well not long after I received it. The DAC went bad and would not log anything but 7.8AFR. Has Innovate told you of some things to check. When it overheats, what indicator does it give you?

LOL, they don't really know anything! You have terrible luck! Wish I knew how to fix your problem, but I am still chasing my own. I think I have a bad controller. Good luck, and if you figure it out let us know.

One thing you may be able to do if you have access to the tools is to actually measure the physical temp of the sensor versus the other one. Have you tried that?

Damn thing either reads 11:1 all the time, or it reads about 17:1 . I already bought a new sensor, did not change. It has to be the controller in my opinion. Trying to convince innovate of that presently.

yeah well they have been having that issue a lot lately, they tried to blame it on EIO hook ups for the HPT guys i ahve spoke with, funny thing about that is mine went out on me and that was 2 months before I even got EIO, so much for that theory of theirs

send the whole unit back mike. Have them check it over or replace it. the only think i would try different, just to try it is to swap your grounds around. its worth a shot. unless there are other people running it the same way. Innovate should replace it if its the harness itself. i think that really may be your problem.

innovative has some bad tech support.. ive never had a cust support person sigh and answer my questions sarcastically before

the funny part was in the end all their bitching to me was wrong.. they kept insisting that my problems were due to bad grounds when it was purely a calbriation issue eventually a guy from sales helped me out but the tech support guy i spoke with was just very difficult to deal with

in the end i was not very happy with atleast one of the tech support staff there

Back to the sypmtoms...You performed the heater cal with the sensor attached to the controller? I only ask that b/c of your question of weather or not one should perform this check with the unit in the exhaust stream or not. The Heater cal should be performed with the sensor not attached to the controller. I had a little confusion the first night I set up the wideband, I did correct heater cal then hooked up the sensor on the car, cold for a O2 reference cal and I got the 8 flashes on the led. I **** myself at first but, then realized that I didn't have the EFI Live interface hooked up (and thus the ground). I have my Flashscan and LC-1 grounds tied into the same custom harness I built up. I plugged in the Flashscan and bingo it cal'd. I am sorry you are having so much trouble with this and I understand that you are frustrated with Innovate but, If and When you do figure this out PLease, Please post up and let others know.

when i do the calibration i do it exactly as they state in the instructions. i may just take the controller out and ship it to them, one part that pisses me off is when they ship it back to me they **** it as slow as possible to im without it for 2 weeks. i think ill try to call them later on today if i get time

So, .............I have been reading through some threads to get an I dea of which wideband AFR gauge to get. I am really considering the lc-1, but with some of the problems some of you have been having I am wondering if you would still go with the innovate wideband.

Don't mean to highjack this thread, but I figured that this would be a good place to get an unbiased opinion.
