Torque management removal?
With my Diablo tuner i noticed three categories for Torque management. Should i turn these off? What will it do for me, any gains? Will i have any problems? I looked at the settings on the tuner. There are 3 setting. ALL say on or off. Torque management percentage is one of them. Torque management timing. Does anybody have experience with this removal. I don't know if i'm loosing anything now. I am running 8.1 last night with new Torque converter and 3:73 gears.

I learned about the TM feature the hard way, by posting without knowing what I was talking about and then getting . It will probably happen again too.
The torque management is a PCM feature that protects your drive line from shock by adjusting power output before specific shift points. By altering the factory TM setting you can enhance acceleration by allowing the PCM to permit more drive train power at times it would normally reduce it.
TM is not the same thing as shift firmness. Although I've been told that it can't be totally eliminated you can choose to minimize it with your particular tuner. As said, you will gain performance. From the conversations I've had, it will give you perhaps .1 sec in the qm. As you can tell, I'm talking out of my hat here.

Here's the '02 description of TM out of the Helms, might be different from year to year but my manual reads exactly the same. www.ls1camaro.net/article.php?sid=50

T.m.
Without getting into all the details about Torque Management, bottom line is that "at times" when the T.M. sences an "abuse" mode it will basically pull timing. I say at times because this does not always happen. I will usually leave the T.M alone unless I see that it is going into the abuse mode and start to pull timing. T.M will affect both M6 and a4 trannys, In the A4 it is said that removing the T.M. will shorten the life of the transmission..I had two identical cars, same cams, heads ect, One a Ram AIr the other a Camaro. The Ram Air did not need the paramaters of the T/M altered but the camaro did. the camaro just would not rev up as fast until I removed the T/M. Both were M6's

Thanks, mine is an SS with ram air hood. I just wondered if it was taking out timing while racing. It seems to rev fine to 6200 now. With the correct settings and shift points.

Did you scan this (4 degrees) or are you going by what you have heard? Just wondering as when I scan mine timing will go from 28 degrees to 2 degrees during a shift and then back up to 28 after completing the shift. (that is before disabling TM )

if the diablo tuner lets you remove a percentage of TM, remove 80% on a stock tranny.
If it doesnt show you a percentage, do the equivelent.
Put a shift kit in it and you can remove 100%
